The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will feature 3,800 hours of live sports coverage, awarding 329 gold medals in 32 sports over 18 days. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, July 26, along the River Seine, with competitions starting on Wednesday, July 24, including football, rugby sevens, handball, and archery.

The women's 100m final is scheduled for 20:20 BST on Saturday, August 3, and the men's 100m final at 20:50 BST on Sunday, August 4, both at the Stade de France. The first medal event, mixed team air rifle shooting, will occur at 10:30 BST on Saturday, July 27, with the final medal awarded in women's basketball at 16:30 BST on Sunday, August 11.

Breaking is the only new sport introduced for Paris 2024. Originating in the Bronx during the 1970s, this dance style has evolved into a competitive sport. The women's breaking event is on August 9, and the men's on August 10, featuring 16 male and 16 female competitors.

Changes in existing sports include new formats for sport climbing, debut of kayak cross, and inclusion of men in artistic swimming for the first time. Additionally, two new kite events are added to sailing: windsurfer – iQFoil and kiteboarding.

Team GB will have 327 athletes competing across 24 sports, with an expected medal haul of 62, slightly below the 64 won in Tokyo. The mascot, Olympic Phryge, symbolizes freedom and unity with the motto, "Alone we go faster, but together we go further."

World Athletics will award prize money for the first time, with a total pot of $2.4 million, offering $50,000 for each gold medalist. Russian and Belarusian athletes will compete as neutral individuals (AIN) and won't participate in the opening ceremony.

The Paris Olympics will be broadcast live on BBC TV, radio, and online, with extensive coverage from 08:00 BST to 23:00 BST daily. Major events will be available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app, with live commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live and Sports Extra.
