The Duffer Brothers, creators of the hit series Stranger Things, are returning to Netflix with a new horror project titled Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen. This upcoming series, created by Haley Z. Boston, known for her work on Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor and Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, promises an atmospheric horror experience set during a wedding.

Announced on July 16, 2024, Netflix has ordered the series, which will follow the events leading up to the ill-fated nuptials of a bride and groom. The Duffer Brothers will serve as executive producers alongside Hilary Leavitt under their Upside Down Pictures banner, with Andrea Sperling also on board as an executive producer.

Described by Netflix, the series delves into the eerie and suspenseful occurrences in the week leading up to the wedding. This project further cements the strong relationship between the Duffer Brothers and Netflix as they prepare to wrap up Stranger Things with its much-anticipated fifth season.

“We were knocked flat when we first read Haley’s script,” the Duffer Brothers stated. “She is a major new talent with a singular voice — her writing is twisted, terrifying, funny, and just… very Haley. We feel so lucky to be producing her first show, and we can’t wait to share her vision with the rest of the world.”

While cast and release date details for Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen remain under wraps, fans can anticipate another engaging horror narrative from the creative minds behind Stranger Things. Additionally, the Duffer Brothers are working on other projects including The Boroughs, a supernatural mystery series, and a live-action adaptation of Death Note.
