Mongolia's Olympic outfits, designed by Michel&Amazonka, have captivated the internet with their intricate details, traditional motifs, and contemporary flair, becoming a viral sensation.

Mongolia's Stunning Olympic Uniforms

Mongolia's opening and closing ceremony outfits for the Paris 2024 Olympics have taken social media by storm, with their intricate embroidery and traditional motifs captivating audiences worldwide.

Designed by the Ulaanbaatar-based label Michel&Amazonka, the uniforms feature pleated robes, embroidered vests, and accessories inspired by traditional Mongolian attire. The designs incorporate the national colors of blue, red, and white, along with traditional patterns and the "Soyombo" symbol from the country's flag. Additionally, motifs associated with Paris and the Olympic Games, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Olympic flame, are integrated into the designs.

The label, founded by sisters Michel Choigaalaa and Amazonka Choigaalaa, aims to "express the essence of Mongolian tradition and culture" in a modern context. The outfits, which took an average of 20 hours each to craft, include ceremonial earrings and embroidered bags for female athletes, while male flag-bearers will don an archery hat, belt, and traditional Mongolian boots.

The Mongolian National Olympic Committee unveiled the outfits through a series of glossy photos and a video shoot that resembled a high-end fashion campaign. Since their release, the uniforms have garnered significant attention on social media, particularly on TikTok. Style writer Ryan Yip's video, which praised the designs as a preemptive Olympic victory, has been viewed over 2 million times. Australian user Bee Jamieson and sports creator geoff0w_ also expressed admiration for the detailed and well-thought-out designs.

On Michel&Amazonka's Instagram page, users have lauded the uniforms as the most beautiful seen so far, praising the intricate and beautiful designs. The label previously designed Mongolia's outfits for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Mongolia, which has participated in all but one summer Olympics since 1964, won its first and only gold medals in judo and boxing at the Beijing 2008 Games. This year, over 30 Mongolian athletes will compete in nine different sports, including cycling, shooting, and wrestling, at the Paris Olympics, which begin on July 26.

In addition to Mongolia's striking uniforms, other countries have also revealed their Olympic outfits. Berluti designed France's uniforms, Ralph Lauren will again dress Team USA, and Great Britain has turned to menswear label Ben Sherman.
